“Little Spar Lake”
Oil on Canvas
30″ x 40″
I happened to be at this particular mountain lake 4 years ago. There was still a thick layer of ice on the water August 2nd! Amazing.
I recently finished this piece to be submitted to the Museum of Arts in Culture in Spokane, WA for their annual art auction.

Just returned from a horseback trip into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The great part was that I was able to attach my painting gear onto the back of some unsuspecting mule. Another bonus was that I got to eat much better than I do on most of my backpacking trips. Here are my paintings from the trip, as well as a few photos.
I found a spot on the rocks below the dam this evening, and worked up this little watercolor/gouache sketch.
A quick gouache sketch at the mouth of Prospect Creek as I try to beat the summer heat.
I love painting in the mornings after a good thunderstorm in the night, and the hole valley is covered in blankets of rising mist.
A couple of quick plein air sketches today as I found a nice spot below the dam to witness it’s raging fury.
A couple of quick plein air sketches as I enjoy a beautiful evening in the Big Sky Country.
Some gouache sketches this morning. I love the look and feel of the landscape in the morning after a good rain.
