There are lots of rocks where I live. Often you can come across large boulders in the middle of the forest. A lot of them are glacial erratics, deposited by the moving ice long ago. Others are large chunks of the mountainside that have rolled to their current resting spot. Whatever the case they add a nice variety to the landscape, and are always fun to paint.
This painting is a quick plein air sketch from this evening.
I had the pleasure of studying under Andrew Baker lately through his program at the Phoenix Atelier. Andrew is lead creature designer at WETA Workshop Design Studio, and he played a large part in the designs of most of the creatures in the new Hobbit films. My goal was to learn ZBrush and incorporate it into my existing workflow. Andrew went above and beyond delivering a solid curriculum with the help of the Phoenix Atelier. I couldn’t be more pleased. Here are some of the results……..
Grabbed my painting gear and snuck out this afternoon for a bit of plein air. A friend of mine gave me a few pieces of Antwerp Belgium Linen to try out…….very nice. Life is slowing down a bit, so hopefully will have more time to post on a regular basis.
